John- I look at $VIX daily, and on 1/7, I see a candle with the "tail" inside the body. Or at least this is what it looks like. When I change to OHLC bars, the data does not display an open- just the days range and the close. I guess the data did not have an "open" for that day. I occasionally see these type candles- until now, I had not changed my display to OHLC to see what the deal is. $VXN shows the same behavior on 1/7. $QQV does not show this.
