Well, there's one place that some of our people rave about called Gino and Georgetti's or something. I've been there. They serve these huge steaks, absolutely massive. I'm not a big steak person, so I couldn't really appreciate it. It runs about $60-70 per person, more if you run up the bar tab. It's not far from Watertower Place. It's not a hustle like Ruth's Chris' or those chains.
When I'm there I usually eat and stay at the Ritz, as they can make anything you want. That's one's probably one of the top 3 hotels in the US.
I'm not a big food person, so I can't appreciate the finer places as much as others. I eat to live, not live to eat <G>.
My wife sometimes goes for the Tea Time at the Ritz. They bring out all of this elaborate stuff, make a big production, and charge you $35 for the pleasure of sipping a cup of tea.
They've got some special thing going on around Valentines Day where they have some chocolate fountain there, and all kinds of pastries to dip in it. I think for an extra charge, they'll let you bathe in it.
If you rent a Lakeside Suite for $900 a night when you're there in Feb, you get a free down comforter. That's what Shack (the real one from the Lakers) stays in when he's in town during the off season. He was in the suite above me for a few days during the strike. That druggie Lance Armstrong was in an adjacent one 1-1/2 years ago when I was there. |
