General Sentiment about the market
You asked for sentiment. This is my sentiment. I am shell shocked from 2000 and 2001. I cashed out in June of 2002 immediately after the WorldCom episode. It became apparent that there was no information that I could trust, and investing in stocks without valid information was simply a gamble. I will feel this way and stay out of the market until one, or more, of those responsible for my sentiments is in jail. I don’t mean the country club jail, but a real jail for a long time. Getting caught and paying a relatively small price is still simply considered to be a cost of doing business. Things won’t change until the punishment hurts more than the ill gotten gains offer. I continue to follow stocks now for the stories, much like a sporting event in which I no longer participate. I doubt that I am alone. I may represent the sentiment of many who will not return to the Market until we can truly trust it.
