The philosophy of the Democratic party includes supporting redistribution of wealth and in practice it includes increasing tax rates and having the government control more of the economy through taxes, spending and regulation.

I know that may look like socialism to one who has a conservative's mindset. However, it isn't socialism. You need to look up the definition.
