The comment on football wagering is an interesting one. One of my buddies loves to listen to all the sportsradio talk shows, and picks opposite the "consensus". His reasoning is that it moves the line artificially, and he does pretty well (for entertainment purposes only, of course).

A lot of people do the same thing with the market. If every analyst is screaming "buy", does this mean you should buy or does it mean you're too late?

I think that "Investor Sentiment", if properly channeled and measured, is an underrepresented factor in a stock's price, much like why some people read the boards.

I absolutely agree, of course, that people shouldn't treat one factor as gospel. They should look at many different things. But, "Not-So-Smart" is probably going to look at one thing anyway.

By the way, I think the line is Philly -7.5. You still like the Eagles?
