I agree 100%. Anyone opposed to the use of options is really just not in touch with the realities of the competitive marketplace.
It is simply the ABUSE of options that are dangerous. Unfortunately, that is a fairly common occurrence. But not so much at ORCL. I could name about 20 other companies that are in far worse shape due to options abuse.
I think your commentary about management change is the key point here. If management is good AND stable, then it is less likely that abuses will occur. ORCL is a good example of the benefits of options as a part of the pay packet.
