OT: ajtj, I enjoy all classic rock and I have most all of the majors (and many minors) - from the early 60's to now, from A to Z.
But I've always been one who is attracted to the freshest, most recent music available, so my tastes are always evolving.
For the past ten years or so I've gotten more and more into the constantly changing stream of electronic music. At first I found it mildly annoying which is characteristic of many things that later turn out to be something I really like, and it began to grow on me.
Techno music has so many genres and subgenres that it's difficult to explain my current tastes to those unfamiliar with it, but my current favorite is a genre called "big beat" which, simply put, is a kind of an upbeat electronic dance music with a rock influence to it that began gaining popularity about six years ago. Some of the more well known artists that lead this genre are the Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, and Uberzone, to name a few.
Before this I was into very hard rock and heavy metal for ten to fifteen years, and used to play rhythm guitar in a band for a while as a hobby.
Meanwhile, at my office I listen to the really older stuff - Mozart, Bach, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, et al.
Different music for different times, as long as there's music - right? |
