I agree that making option expenses clearer is reasonable, and so does the Oracle board. But I certainly don't agree that Black-Scholes is the way to do it (and I couldn't tell from your comment whether you do or not). I also think that blaming companies that use stock options for the tax code is an oversimplification; there is a tremendous amount of blame to go around.

One of the appeals of making dividends more attractive is that the value the stock of a company that pays dividends is clearly defined (even if the inability to predict what those future dividends will be doesn't remove the risk). I still can't make any sense of what a company like Sun is worth. In the long run I expect them to go out of business, and if the never pay any dividends, then what does a long-term stockholder have?
