Utopian, perhaps... it doesn't take into account the 'national pride' aspect. not just for US/West, but also becasue if/when newer powers arise, they may feel only to inclined to give us a taste of our own medicine, which leaves it in Western interests to continue our domination even if the cake doesn't grow as fast... nice idea, though :)
