DARBES,

One can never please the environmentalists. If anything, they should be applauding Dell as an example. Most other OEMs are not doing anything. And if companies like Dell don't employ prison labor, the prisoners will be just sitting there doing nothing, living off the taxpayers. Basically, the whole incarceration in this country is all backwards. The ones doing time are the taxpayers, who are paying for the prisoners to watch HBO and do nothing, but that's a different subject.

If the environmentalists succeed, Dell will either drop the recycling completely, since doing it the way the enviro want it would bankrupt the company, or Dell does it the way the enviros want it, Dell goes under, and all that is left are companies that are not doing any recycling.

But of course you can't talk about logic with environmentalists. It's all about feelings - their own feelings. They feel great about themselves this minute. The net effect (of their protest) on the environment will probably be negative, but that's not what it is about. It is about the environmentalists' egos, about their feeling of superiority.
