EU is and will "deal" with Monaco in a constructive way..
That is, within the long term project of replacing tax-evasion,etc with some more productive local economies, with special emphasize on small economies and populations. (and especially islands, and specifically isolated ones)
That is, in some cases some level of tax-subsidies might be the only way of keeping a local economy going, ref growing banans or virtual banks (ref carribean islands)

For example, inbetween sweden and finland there is little (finnish) island, demilitarized, as it always has been the first goal in any war, additionally lots of other "special solutions" and now still outside EU to be able to run ferries and make money on tax-free alcohol. (which now is a major factor to connect acandinavia to the baltic nations, just like it before EU connected the scandinavian nations, always a good reason for visiting a neighbor)
Btw, UK joining the EMU will make this process take another step further, although it still is a problem with the future of London City.
Question, does Monaco have some "legal" importance, like Jersey, in that their laws for corporations are more "well known, predictable" than those of other tax-friendly nations, less chance of changes, elections,etc... |
