Rod Macpherson had a very good explanation of NC for you.
I think Corel should have a description of a the NC on its home page to educate the public. I can't find a really good link so I'll post this.

Clearing up misconceptions about the Network Computer as seen by Oracle
ee.surrey.ac.uk
The Network Computer won't need permanent storage since data and applications will be kept on the central server - offered by a
service provider for the home or on an in-office server for businesses.

<< But where does a Consumer fit into the scheme of Java NC. >>

Would you like to turn on your computer and just run applications?
Are you tired of being a system administrator?
Are you tired of reboot your computer when it crashes?
Thats what the NC is going to solve.
Rod Macpherson also stated in his post that corporations will save money.

As the NC stands now it's not for the power user. But as faster data speeds on the net progress I can see application available for the power user.

Java Open standards will give the consumer the best software product.
A monopoly gives the consumer what the company wants to produce
as Rod Macpherson has pointed out in his post.

There is going to be competition for the NC market. MS is definitly working on Java programs but will not admit it because they don't want to loose the present upgrade sales. All these new inititive by MS is just trying to keep the monoply but I don't think it'll work due to Sun,IBM,Oracle.

Corel is just a small fish in this big ocean. It doesn't need a big piece of the pie to survive. This is just another product to add to the product base. There is a possibility that the big fish could be interest in the small fish (Corel). This is why I like Corel
