Wrong. People starving in the 3rd world is rarely a news item.

Millions of people starving in a relatively short period in one small third world country is a news item. Millions of people starving in the same period in one country where the US is involved in military operations is an even bigger news item. Millions of people not starving is never a news item.

If millions of people have actually starved in Afghanistan then it would be easy to find a source documenting at least an estimate of the number. Yet you have posted no such sources nor has anyone else anywhere I areas on SI, nor has it been in the news or on web sites that I have read. I'm left to conclude either that there is a huge conspiracy to cover up the news or that there is no such news. The later sounds much more plausible.
