It only costs one trillion (or really more like two) because the government is so aggressive about taking and spending our money. That isn't an effective argument that if it refrains from seizing someone's money that it is providing them with a subsidy. It is not a situation where it is the governments money and the government is being generous if it lets us keep it. Every dollar that escapes taxes is just a reduction in the amount seized not a subsidy.
