hmm....

thanks for the info.... i may have to go that route problem is... the existing lynksys is 2 years old, so no possibility of "return". But it reinforces the idea the problem lies with the wireless device (and XP) in the new laptop.

I have another and newer system in a different location that once the initial hick-up was removed, it has worked fine.... I will explore the idea of the neatgear equipment ans see what happens...
