Hi X,

So tonight I feel like writing a bit, after drinking a bit, after running a bit.. <g>

I will talk about the little lizards and me.. I have always loved these harmless little reptiles.. They always seem to come out and seek human company, if you are sitting still, out in the desert, reading a map, having lunch, or better yet, waking up out there after a nap, and seeing one looking at you from a foot or two away, on a rock.. maybe doing a few push ups just for the helluva it..

About 6,7 years ago, I don't remember, our local paper, to their credit did some very good investigative reporting and found out that a few local people were going out in the desert and capturing these little friendly, social creatures with a loop on a fishing line.. Then putting them in coolers tied to the back of ATVs and hauling them back to the city.. Then shipping them back East for people to buy and put in aquariums etc..

These local bastards got .50 - 1.00 for each one that survived.. And the survival rate was about like being put in a air tight container (ironic).. So cruel, so inhumane..

I read about it.. Called the state game department and learned, I was not the only p!ssed off one.. They scheduled a hearing and four or five of us testified against it in front of the commission.. Myself, a woman grad student and just another nice guy as I remember..

We won to a certain degree I guess, got restrictions placed, limits, (ugh) the collectors had to pay a fee..

I only say this because people in person can make a difference, whether it is against the war or against capturing friendly little creatures.. I know,

Because last Tuesday night, we won our fight (for the time being at least) against the water suckers in our neighborhood.. The ones that wanted to build a huge sub-division in our rural area with no regard to the impact on us..

I am through,

Goodnight all,

m
