We have another subset of the human species that our society isn't dealing with very well--the illegal alien. The illegal alien subset is relatively easy to deal with as compared to the pre-born, yet we can't seem to manage it. If we're going to change the status quo, I'd rather take that one on first both because it's easier and because it's more immediate. Issues of the pre-born are enormously complicated, for most people, at least.
