Your uncle is guilty of not listening to the critisism. Guilty of bailing out the friends at LTCM. Guilty of promoting "new economy" - he is old enough to understand no such thing exists and will never exist, finally is guilty of helping whole bunch of Wall Street crooks of helping them to commit crime. Taking off the peoples money, promising them good return is a crime when the promiser has the knowledge that the pyramid is running out of blocks to support. A.G. had that knowledge yet he did nothing to stop the crime. Your uncle is more guilty than all Enron, WCOM, other executives, Street analysts combined.
The people are guilty of being naive and greedy - this is truth. But why the small crooks who use the telephone or internet to ripp off naive are going to jail?

I would be on your place far away from calling him an intelligent person. The only possible defence his lawyer can take in criminal court is Allan Greenspan was stupid enough that the powers gave him position of Federal Reserve chairman.
