The politicalization of the judicial nomination process is one of the worst developments in the last 20 years. Both parties have a lot answer for on this issue. Can you imagine the reaction to Bush's first Supreme Court nominee? I don't know how Chuck Schumer can look in the mirror in the morning. This quote, which manages to include "Judge Pickering...convicted cross-burner...(and) Richard Nixon...", in the same sentence, is a masterpiece.

"To renominate Judge Pickering, who has not built a distinguished record and is probably best known for intervening on behalf of a convicted cross-burner, shows unfortunately that Richard Nixon's Southern strategy is still alive and well in the White House."
