Because it is part of our Western Civilization Depends on how religious people consider themselves to be.. And if you claim Jews are part of western civilization, are you prepared to say the same for muslims, who's religion is also originated from Judaism?? Personally, I prefer Israel over any other nation in the region until such a time as they either become authoritarian, or Arab states display an ability to practice non-belligerent democracy (not populism).. And all of this discussion about "who was there first" and who has "ownership" of the land is, IMO, useless. The Israelis are there and they aren't going away.. Any moral arguent about their having "taken" the land from some indigenous people who now refer to themselves as Palestinians is irrelevant. All that matters is what compromises are going to be made on both sides in order for these people to live in peace with one another. Hawk
