Not if you change the genome around it isn't. We have made new organisms that are not copies of anything that has sexually or asexually reproduced. We have changed the genes ourselves. There is no reason we won't be able to do that with humans. Then we will have unique new humans, that are from cloned material.
Of course a clone, even without genetic changes, is not going to be a mere copy. If you know anything about brain development, the growth of the brain is different, depending on different stimuli. Since a clone and it's parent would be experience different things, they would not be mere copies- they would be structurally different in terms of their brains. Twins (identical) for example, are copies of each other, but they are not the same person. There experiences are unique to the individual, since they are not both in exactly the same place at the same time, their experience of the world is different, and their brains grow differently, and they are different and unique individuals. |
