she is wrong on both counts...

when i quoted general sherman...it certainly was not meant to be "callous indifference" ( and quite obviously not racist )

it was meant to express my belief that we should not be deterred from our objective which is to defend the american people (and for that matter people all over the world who are targeted for terrorism...the brits (ricin found) the aussies...the terrible bombing in bali)

....deterred from our objective...

by virtue of the fact that "war is hell"..

if the atrocity of the deaths of taliban who surrendered is determined to be intentional or even for that matter, one of gross incompetence, that fact should not be used as the basis for finger pointing at the US as karen lawrence was doing.

so my response to that remains "war is hell" and hellish events will probably continue as long as the battle/war against terrorism is necessary.

i fully expect that there will continue to be collateral damage, not only to the afghan people, but also our own people and our allies (as has already occurred)

general sherman saw tremendous bloodshed on the battlefield...he knew of which he spoke...war is hell
