>>>He [Turkish Prime Minister Abdullah Gul] said that if a new war breaks out in Iraq, it will bring adverse consequences for the whole region and the Iraqi people in particular.<<<
Most of the leaders of the countries surrounding or close in proximity to Iraq share Gul's opinion. In fact, most people in the world think this.
I think Colin Powell believes this also. I predict once he feels he is no longer a voice of reason within the Bush Admnistration, that he'll resign. Come to think about it, I wonder if such a threat is what compelled Bush to take the matter to the UN in the first place. Just a thought!
In my personal view, I see Bush as showing himself very inept when it comes to foreign diplomacy. If he keeps it up I think more and more folks both here in America and abroad will begin to question the very legitimacy of his presidency given how he got [s]elected into office.
Bush's war hooping, his dead or alive posters tucked in his back pocket and his grandiose dreams of regime change all over will certainly come to haunt him, especially if he promulgates the war in Iraq. Whatever happens, I doubt we'll see Powell around near the end of his Bush's first term.
I got a feeling that Gore, due to 9/11, Afghanastan and now Iraq and Korea, has been holding back talking much on Florida, but that this will only last until Bush's reelection cycle heats up. Look for it then. |
