Apart from counting hypothetical eggs as if they they were material chickens, it's not a good idea. It plays into the hands of Western enemies.

As far as I know this is going to be a US invasion of Iraq. Is it the US's aim to go there for spoils like a medieval army? What point is the war and sacrifice going to make?

Letting the Iraqis rebuild their infrastructure and making sure they build a decent government themselves, is good enough. Write off the cost of the war just we wrote off the cost of the Cold War.

You are stepping into the triumphalist error.
