No its not national buyout rumor week, its what going on from a macro and micro perspective in the computer industry. From chips to systems companies are looking for vertical and horizontal complete portfolios, a case in point is Compaq. Compaq has quietly begun to assemble a
networking powerhouse. They have bought Microcom for 250 million
last month, they bought a switch company two years ago, it will continue.

At this price, which is basically what CSCC was selling at a year ago, ASND/CSCC I am sure is on a couple of peoples radar screen. Heck there was big time talk that IBM was ready to buy CSCC when they had a market cap of $7 billion.

There are some strategic points in the data network you want to own, ASND-CSCC own a couple of them, CSCO owns the rest.

MSFT will not buy CSCO.
