Maybe, but I don't think that someone who's inclined to commit a crime would necessarily think twice merely by knowing that someone else is trying to keep from being executed. I think that reaction is to be expected.

In fact, I'm inclined to believe that in a certain number of situations a would-be criminal might be inclined to commit a worse crime - i.e., killing witnesses, cops, etc. - to avoid being put in that position.

I don't believe that

we just disagree

when they are on death row, they are guilty by law, so why would we assume they are innocent?
