Jb, Always transfer to a new account in cash, closed out your old acct. and open a new one. If you transfer stocks it usually is 5 to 10 business days (so they say). It will usually be longer. I have heard some horror stories on this bulletin board about people wanted to transfer funds from one acct. to another. If you have some stocks you keep long term, open up a new account with a new broker and if you have cash available from the old account, transfer it to the new one then transfer your long term stock holding when the new one is open. Close out the old acount altogether. Good luck.
