when I was in grade school, our geography teacher assigned
each of us a country for the purposes of a report.

I was assigned Zanzibar.
cia.gov

In short order, despite the pre-internet days,
I determined that there was no longer such a country.

Unfortunately, my neonate powers of persuasion
were insufficient to avoid the assignment
altogether, but I did get an "A" for creativity:-)
