You see - you take the three millions it costs now for a capital crimes trial, and instead hire say thirty more man-years of investigators to track down those child molesters .... maybe thirty-five, forty, and equip them as well .... much vigilante 'justice' is poorly applied ... there are good reasons why people band together to make laws in furtherance of a civilised society, and wild lynch mobs acting arbitrarily were among those reasons

Sure, i could do one of those turds myself, might be tempted to use something more direct than electricity too, but that's the emotion to which humans are always going to be susceptible .... i don't want the state that governs me to be an emotional critter, and i absolutely do not want it permitted such a supreme right as that of the taking of life
