I can't imagine what posessed me to buy puts on it.

Let me guess... Topping chart? Bottoming dollar?

I had a ball recently, determining the range and trading gold futures long and (mostly) short… Probably beginners luck. I just kept putting in orders on both sides, shorting spikes and buying lows. Lot’s of fun… (Un?)fortunately, I know that such things do not last… -g.

To my surprise, YG futures generally seem to be rather conservative... they move, but – at least recently – in moderate amounts. I noticed that, like bonds, they seem to have a little (inverse) lead in relation to stocks.

Another advantage is that profits are taxed at a lower rate. Last but not least, it is a relief not to have to worry about the dissolving time value, like with options.
