We don't think about it everyday but something like WTC attack remains in the collective subconscious and weighs there to a certain extent. It will take either a long time or a momentous victory to fade it. I don't think removing Saddam will really provide relief from that pressure because nothing is really clear re: Iraq in that context...... If the public had the choice of definitely wiping out all vestiges of Al Queda or taking out Saddam I think the choice would be clear. We don't have the first option.

On the other hand it remains like a scar and a powerful symbol. I don't know about you guys but I have a much deeper appreciation of life since WTC.

And as far as scars I like this old Paul Simon tune..

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that layed him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains
