With Unicom's public plans and timetable? This has all to do with politics and MIC - the carriers are being dragged along (aside from KT ICOM <g>). And the government is clearly paying the tab.

Unicom has a public commitment to a three phased roll-out of 1xrtt....but I missed any actual dollar commitment to EV-DO.

Why will consumers want buggy, much slower service - offering nothing more and very likely less in capabilities and services - even with a subsidy?

This may happen after June....but until the slippage starts, consumers will think that W-CDMA handsets are only six months away. Depending on the amount of the subsidy, it may be enough to delay their decision.

It's not up to magical powers of individual vendors. The flaw is the frozen standard.

Well....I think we are always going to disagree on this. If the source of the problem is the standard, they will go back and change the standard after they get a system up and running. It could be Docomo.....but it would be better for Qualcomm if it was SK Telecom.

On a related subject....should the Nextwave decision be out by now? A nationwide roll-out by whoever decides to develop those frequencies could also dramatically change the MIC's mind.
