Develcon announces contract with TRW Systems Integration
Group
SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--Develcon Electronics Ltd. announces that
it has received orders totaling approximately Cd. $2,500,000 from
TRW Systems Integration Group of Fairfax, Virginia. The orders
are for the Company's Athena Wide Area Networking System.
TRW is the prime contractor for a large U.S. government contract,
Treasury Communications System (TCS), and the product is for
installation in a number of government sites throughout the United
States.
TRW confirmed that the Athena System was chosen after evaluating a
number of competitive systems, because of its price/performance,
functionality, and flexibility.
Develcon and TRW are cooperating in pilot installations for an
additional two TCS applications under the same government
contract. These pilot installations are expected to last
approximately three months each before a decision is made on the
system to be used and the implementation timeframes. The value of
equipment required for each of these applications would be in
excess of U.S. $6 million. Develcon has no assurance that its
Athena product will be chosen for these additional applications,
however, the results of the TRW/Develcon cooperation to date
indicate satisfaction with the Athena product.
