Great "find"

Had me in stitches, but you're gonna be getting some nasty calls from Redmond for spilling the beans on the master plan. :)

MSFT is far stronger today than at any point in its history. Of course they want to downplay Win98 so everyone can be suitably "surprised" to discover that every new PC on the planet will be running it next year. When Win95 arrived most manufacturers kept offering Win 3.1 as an install option for nearly a year before quietly retiring it to the "we'll do it if you beg" category. By contrast the cutover to Win98 will be a non-event and will be complete within three months of its debut. This is a product that will go from zero to near 100% OEM penetration within months, surely the fastest ramp in the history of software. But come next June we'll be hearing about how MSFT was "pleased with the market acceptance of Win98 but mindful of the difficult future quarterly comparisons this will make" while at the same time learning about how U-Hauls have become the fashion substitute for wallets in the Redmond area of late.
