| The famous twin studies, which established a 50% genetic correlation for homosexuality, have not been replicated, and have been criticized for bias. Even if we accept them, they mean that 50% is not genetics, and we cannot be sure of the genesis of homosexual behavior in all cases. I know for my part, I have a strong preference to have my child be heterosexual, and therefore would not be happy to place him in situations where I had fear of undue influence towards homosexuality. As long as it is not an established fact that the matter is settled prior to the age of six, and therefore it is conceivable that seduction or even role- modeling could play a role, I would prefer to avoid gay scout leaders, openly gay teachers, and so forth. Furthermore, even if homosexuality were fixed at an early age, I would not care for an extrapolation that said that one couldn't help it if one were promiscuous, or a pedophile, or whatever. It seems to me better to leave these topics to more age appropriate settings, like high school, rather than promoting undue speculation about sexuality when children are very young........ |
