wow- you know, that is the kind of knowledge that probably seemed irrelevant to the student population at the time you studied, but in retrospect is probably the most valuable education you can have.

Unfortunately I think it is difficult to get information on some of the mini-booms and bull/bear mkts of 1800s, which is where I would like to look for parallels to this market. Specifically the turn of the last century was a recessionary period after the guilded age 1890s, the brief info I can get about the period looked more similar to our situation today than the 30s or 70s, but because there is not much written about it we keep getting analogies to depressions (30s) and hyperinflation (70s) as if it is baked in the cake after a boom and bust cycle.
