i am working on my third dell laptop (first two defective) and each time i have tried to transfer files and programs, it has been a problem..

the "wizard" is a bit daft.

anyway, i just went ahead and reinstalled everything from scratch...it was less time involved than trying to deal with tech support..(i already wasted money and time on the wrong connect cables they told me to use the first time....and it still didn't work)

i'm seeing other weirdness going on with it too....for example windows popping up when you shut down telling you "one or more computers is connected" when they are not (but had been at one time)...i chatted with my son about it too...he recently bought the software to replace W2K as he also thinks it is unstable...

btw, my second laptop was constantly crashing...dell never could resolve the problems so it went back...but more and more i'm thinking it was the operating system.

i've spoken with others who told me that they were advised to avoid XP Home and only purchase XP Professional. (i have XP Home).
