Dennis,

First I wanted to thank you for the Big Charts. That feature to see the pe history is great. I will have to look over to see what earnings they are taking for that graph. Are they taking prewriteoff earnings or actual? For example the last couple of years have huge writeoffs due to aquisitions. Next, they had writeoff associated with the loss of the rapid exchange patent loss. Not only the litigation payment but a huge writeoff for the restructing of the vascular division.

But thanks again I have been looking for this type of tool. I would have to say we are in the middle of the historical pe range. I will have to see what the earnings growth were in each period. For example if the average current pe is 30. Say in the period of 1997-1999 actual earning growth was in the 15% range. But the market valued the stock at a pe of 30. MDT currently has a pe of 33. Are earnings during the next period going to ramp up like last qtr to increases of 19-20%? If this is the situation we will see some price appreciation and have a higher current pe. Sorry for the banter I will look over the big charts and let you know what my analysis shows.

Good investing,
Mike
