I found out yesterday that my uncle has cancer.

I thought it was strange that he moved back to NY this year
to be closer to his family after telling us again and
again how much he loved living in Virginia.

I guess he sorta knew he was sick but didn't want to tell
anyone.

Or maybe he was afraid to find out for sure and just knew
something wasn't right.

Anyhow the doctors told him he's got about a year or less
to live.

Sounds like he's in what they call stage 4.
And there are supposed four stages of cancer.
OR maybe five if there is one that is right before you
leave this planet.

Anyhow, I'm going to write him a letter and let him know
about all the things I remember about him and how he made
me feel special.

I'm not sure if he intends to go out gracefully or go out
with a fight. I was wondering what stage of cancer your
friend Toni was in.

Did you come across any useful sites in your searches on
the internet?

Anyhow I assume my Uncle Jerry is at peace with himself.
He is a religious man who survived a massive heart attack
and a few smaller heart problems several years ago.
He's in his early 70's now. My aunt Joan and he lost their
only son at the age of 8 when he was hit by a car on a
Father's Day celebration at their home in Queens.

A week later I was born.

I think Uncle Jerry sort of saw his son Kevin in my eyes.
He always took extra time to talk to me and sometimes gave
me special little gifts.

I guess he's looking forward to seeing his son and his
mother once again.

It still has to be sort of scary though.
I'm sure he still wants to spend as much time as he can
with my aunt, his three daughters, and grandchildren.

I'm not sure what to write to him.
