I heard that report on the radio, but why should the "Naked DNA" approach be any safer? As I understand it, the current guess is that surplus genetic material stimulated another gene to overproduce a protein that led to leukemia. If anything, surely the Naked Dna approach is less controlled than insertion using a retrovirus?

The FDA must have have some rationale for limiting the moratorium to viral treatments. Could anyone enlighten me? Is the ban on all viruses, or is it limited to retroviruses?
