Bush ruined the economy with several disasterous policies at the same time. The problem was not a market correction, there had been many markets corrections and advances without destroying the economic engine that brought recovery after corrections.

- He crippled the ability of the government to respond to the disruptions of the falling stock market by gutting federal revenues with his tax cut policy. This prevented the government from providing any stimulus beyond the up to $300 chump change package.

- He redirected all government emphasis from the high tech industries and possible uses of broadband communication to one of old resource based commerce enabled and protected by high tarrifs.

- Finally he ended the military and FBI focus on small regional conflicts and radical groups to emphasise a return to cold war big budget inititiatives against the aging soviet balistic missles. This left the U.S. open to the attacks that further kicked the already downspiralling economy.
