What makes you think he was a rabble rouser? That beard and those flowing robes were the style of his day. For all you know, nowadays he would appear in a Brooks Brothers suit and have an ordinary haircut and no facial hair. Maybe he would resemble Billy Graham, only he would preach Himself. Plenty of respectable people received him, and a Roman centurion went so far as to ask him to heal the centurion's daughter. He had no political platform, but preached "render unto Caesar"; he encouraged private charity, for example, in the tale of the Good Samaritan; and he extolled using your talents, rather than hiding them. So I honestly don't know.......
