(apologies to Johnny Cash) Ride this train to Toronto ... winter.. see the huddled masses downtown on lunch break see the cigarette stick to the wind dried lips as they try to suck back that quick haul before frostbite takes hold in the extremities. Cursing as the body of the smoke breaks away in their fingers with the business end stuck and searing in between digits.. Curse the NO SMOKING INDOORS rule.. Ride this train to Toronto ... summer.. watch the sunworshipping smokers drying their skin and nurturing their melanomas, filling their lungs with that ethereal mixture of smog and cigarette effluent... as the sweat of the dog days of summer soaks their clothes for want of air conditioning Cursing the NO SMOKING INDOORS rule.. Ride this train to Montréal, longtime one of the champion smoking cities of Canada ... Upscale West Island Mall... mute and clean remnants of a bygone era populate the malls. Empty vesicles which once held countless spent bodies of kamikazee troops of Imperial Tobbacco and the occasional Special forces Marlies or insidious low tar Vantage brigades... all soundly proscribed , never to return to fill those halls with their poisonous fumes and stench of their foul stale rotting corpses.. Cursing the NO SMOKING INDOORS rule.. Ride this train west... Ride this train to Sioux Lookout. See it roll into the station as anticipating wraiths, cigarettes at the lips and lighter at the ready prepare to leap from on high and fill their lungs with nicotine to take away the pain in their lungs, worse than the first highschool heartbreak.. Cursing the NO SMOKING INDOORS rule.. Ride this train .... indeed but remember NO SMOKEING.... Smokers here feel descriminated against and their plcaes to smoke are greatly curtailed... Personally IMO the government should be focusing on cars if they are that concerned about second hand smoke. Got a light ? ;o) Kastel (11 years quit)
