Hi Jay:
Let me tell you a somewhat perplexing SI story. Last July I posted this: >>as I have mentioned before and will risk boring you with again, what works for me is active management, but on a multi-year timetable. The ONLY thing I have done this year is throw one good chunk of cash into equities about two weeks ago (GM, YUM & a few others).<<http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=17797800
In response, one member of the SI community, whose alias I don't recall, posted a full page diatribe, full of emotional invective, whose thesis amounted to that GM was a dog and I was an idiot.
Well, GM released 4Q02 and FY02 earnings today, as follows: General Motors Corp. earned $850 million in the fourth quarter, including the results of Hughes Electronics Corp., as the world's largest automaker posted record revenue for a final quarter....GM said Thursday it earned $1.62 cents a share in the last three months of the year, compared with 60 cents in the year-ago period. That beat by 10 cents the forecast of Wall Street analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call....For the year, including Hughes, GM earned $3.5 billion, or $6.69 cents a share, topping Wall Street estimates of $6.54 a share....In 2001, GM earned $3.23 a share on $1.5 billion of net income.<<
Well naturally, being male, I remembered the unnamed poster's lunatic diatribe and so decided to to go back for a little needling and na-na-na-boo-boo.
Guess what? The post in question is GONE! (Try finding post # 21736). So, my question to you is this: what kind of a place is this, where the idiots can get their idiocy erased, just like that? This is one more data point supporting the hypothesis that SI is a virtual rathole, infested with psychopaths, pretenders and charlatans.
Time for another SI vacation for me, I think. |
