Here's a brilliant statement by Sheryl Crowe..Just don't have enemies...where was she when our "friends" bombed the World Trade center?

(1/14/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Pop/rock singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow nabbed her first-ever American Music Award this year's ceremony, where she was named favorite female pop artist. Crow's most recent album, C'mon C'mon, debuted at Number Two last April and has been certified platinum.

Backstage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Crow told us she didn't expect to win and that she was ready to see a fellow nominee take the prize, saying, "Wow, I'm in shock--I was so ready to watch Pink come up there. Oh, it's just been a, I think, a sensational year for her, so...I'll take it. I don't think I'm not worthy of it. I just, you know, you never expect to win, and honest to God I really didn't. I've only ever been to the American Music Awards once, so I was happy I was nominated."

During the event Crow seemed more concerned with world affairs than awards, including the impending war with Iraq. Crow wore a white T-shirt emblazoned with black letters reading "War Is Not The Answer." Asked about the source and the meaning of her shirt, Crow said, "It's a shirt that I had made up by a company called Enigma Arcana. And I just think there's a really vital, sweeping peace movement out there that is not getting covered in the press, or at least it's not getting covered as much as I feel like it should be covered, so I just kind of try to do my part. I don't want to get into my own political diatribe, but I would say that I think the war is based in greed, and there are huge karmic retributions that will follow. And I think war is never the answer to solving any problems--I think the best way to solve your problems is to not to have any enemies."
