But I think the example of some people suffering from their wrong decisions may be more helpful in the long run for society than the example of irresponsibility having no consequences.

I take your point. I really do. I'm big on taking responsibility, too. But a long run in which we punish people by making them parent is at least as unattractive as one in which irresponsibility has no consequences. We already have way to many rotten or simply inept or indifferent parents. That costs us.
