Follow-up to Saddam rumor
The source of the Saddam exile rumor (see 10:05) appears to be a "dba" newswire story reporting that Saddam Hussein has agreed to leave Iraq if certain conditions are met. Three diplomats in the United Arab Emirates are cited as the source. According to the story, Hussein would leave the country if he was guaranteed not to be persecuted by the U.S. or its European allies. Article also states that further conditions of his departure would include withdrawal of U.S. troops from the Gulf region, the end of U.N. arms inspections and the end of sanctions against Iraq... We are not familiar with dba and therefore cannot speak to the credibility of this story.
