On alot of stocks, averaging down actually paid off...many stocks I bought for $2 - $10 a share, only to see them plummet under a $1, some, way under $1...but averaging down, enabled me to get out even, with a profit, or much smaller loss.....STOR, I havent averaged down on, but may if she see's her old low's....heck, look at ATML...I think I bought my first shares at $12 if my memory is correct....bought more at $5......loaded the boat at I think .70's or so she dropped a little more, then made a hard run back above $2.50, where I got out with a nice profit on the big blocks I bought in .70's....she ran to $4, and has settled back to $2 - $3.....RBAK I first bought at about $2.25 - $2.50, after NOK took a 10% stake in them at $2.75.....well, I loaded the bought in the .20's again, and unloaded the boat in the high .80's for a very nice profit....she ran to $1.40 a couple days ago, but got killed on a good/bad earnings report.......anyway, sometimes averging down works, sometimes it is just as you said, throwing good money after bad money.....I'll still hold my stor and watch it......maybe buy more if she see's old low's.....
