an interesting article on jnpr, I don't own it but this ciena rise has me wondering about the sector

Juniper, which sells nothing but Net gear, has been growing closer to the Bells.

During the last quarterly earnings report, Juniper caught Wall Street's attention when it announced a contract win at BellSouth (BLS:NYSE - news - commentary - research - analysis). While significant in terms of cracking the Bell market, the deal turned out to be for gear that would be installed outside of BellSouth's core local network. This reduces the prospect of the repeated reorders that so intrigue growth-obsessed Juniper investors.

And though it is not officially announced, Juniper has been working with Verizon to make its gear compatible with the Bell's existing equipment.
