But they keep lowering guidance.......... either full year earnings or revs nearly every quarter. There just isn't the growth rate on a base as high as msft has to support this valuation, imo. Declaring a stock split and offering a dividend prior to announcing earnings seemed an effort to soften the blow and reminds me of past companies that knew they would see a rise in the stock price when they announced a split. That doesn't work anymore. You're right........... XP is a good product as are their other products and I wouldn't trade them in (well.... maybe for an Apple, but I have two programs not supported by anything other than windows), but that doesn't change my opinion of the future growth rate and valuation.
